Field of study: East Asian Studies, Economics, Education, Geography, Information School, Journalism, Politics, Sociological Studies, Town and Regional Planning.

Level: Undergraduate.

Eligibility: Indian undergraduate students starting their studies in any of the following departments: East Asian Studies, Economics, Education, Geography, Information School, Journalism, Politics, Sociological Studies, Town and Regional Planning. Applicant must hold an offer of a study place for undergraduate studies in one of the above departments. Applicants must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes. The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark.

Value: £1,500 per year each. The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

How to apply: The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required in first or subsequent years.

India Merit Undergraduate Scholarships

India Merit Undergraduate Scholarships (£7,000)

Tenable at: Sheffield University.

Eligibility: Indian students starting their undergraduate degree studies in September. Applicants must be Indian nationals or permanently domiciled in India. Applicants should hold an offer of a study place for entry in September. The India Merit Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Value: £7,000 per year each in the form of a tuition fee reduction for all undergraduate programmes except Medicine and Dentistry. Students of Medicine or Dentistry will only receive the scholarship in the first two years of study.

Lee Foundation Student Life Scholarship

Lee Foundation Student Life Scholarship

The Lee Foundation is a charitable foundation set up by philanthropist and businessman Mr Lee Kong Chian for the advancement of education, medicine and cultural activities, helping the poor, assisting victims of fire, flood and famine, and the carrying out of other philanthropic work. The Lee Foundation Student Life Scholarship is to motivate full-time undergraduate students in any degree programme to achieve greater heights of excellence in both academic studies and co-curricular activities.

Tenable at: Singapore Management University.

Eligibility: Applicants must be undergraduate students of any nationality in any degree programme. A record of having an active student life. Candidates should have good academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0). Preference is given to students with demonstrated financial needs (gross family monthly per capita income not exceeding $2,000).

Value: The total value of the scholarships per annum is $20,000. The number of scholarships per annum is not fixed. The final grant of amount is subjected to the number and quality of successful applicants and their performance in both studies and student life as well as their relative financial ability. The $20,000 annual scholarship fund will be shared equally amongst the number of scholarships awarded for that year.

Duration: The scholarship is tenable for one year; subject to good academic and student life performance.

Additional information: No bond is required under the terms of the Lee Foundation Student Life Scholarship. However there is a Tuition Grant Scheme: Under this scheme provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education non-Singaporean scholars will be contractually obliged to work for Singapore-based companies for a minimum period of three years upon graduation.
