Field of study: East Asian Studies, Economics, Education, Geography, Information School, Journalism, Politics, Sociological Studies, Town and Regional Planning.

Level: Undergraduate.

Eligibility: Indian undergraduate students starting their studies in any of the following departments: East Asian Studies, Economics, Education, Geography, Information School, Journalism, Politics, Sociological Studies, Town and Regional Planning. Applicant must hold an offer of a study place for undergraduate studies in one of the above departments. Applicants must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes. The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark.

Value: £1,500 per year each. The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

How to apply: The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required in first or subsequent years.

India Merit Undergraduate Scholarships

India Merit Undergraduate Scholarships (£7,000)

Eligibility: Indian students starting their undergraduate degree studies in September. Applicants must be Indian nationals or permanently domiciled in India. Applicants should hold an offer of a study place for entry in September. The India Merit Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Value: £7,000 per year each in the form of a tuition fee reduction for all undergraduate programmes except Medicine and Dentistry. Students of Medicine or Dentistry will only receive the scholarship in the first two years of study.

Eligibility: Applicants should posses a good academic record with M.Stat., M.A, M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics. Outstanding candidates with B.Stat/ B.Math.,/B.A./B.Sc. or equivalent degree with Mathematics as the main subject also will be considered.

Entrance test and interview: These are held in the first week of May. Advertisements appear in National news papers and also on the institute web-site in the month of February.

Financial Support: Junior Research Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of Rs.16000 per month. A special fellowship of Rs.20000 per month is granted for exceptionally meritorious candidates. The fellowship is extended annually as long as normal progress is maintained. The fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs.20000 per annum. The amount may be spent for purchase of books and stationeries, photocopying, thesis typing and binding, submission fee etc. On satisfactory completion of two years, the monthly stipend will be raised to Rs.18000.
