Tilburg University, Netherlands offers 39 scholarships to international students who are admitted to a Master’s program at Tilburg University.

Programmes: MA, MSc or LLM

Tenable at: Tilburg University

Duration: Tilburg University Scholarships for Academic Excellence are awarded for one academic year. Candidates applying for one of the Research Master programs will have to apply for the scholarship again for their second year of their Research Master program.

Value:  A scholarship of € 5000 for living expenses. A partial tuition waiver of up to € 10,000. Students need pay only  a tuition fee of € 2,500

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must fulfill the following admission requirements, in addition to the regular requirements for admission to a Master’s program to qualify for a Tilburg University Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
  • Candidates must have revceived unconditional admission to one of the graduate programs at Tilburg University for the academic year 2014-2015.
  • Candidates must have achieved excellent study results in their relevant under graduate program. As an indication, the student must have graduated with an average result of at least 8 out of 10, or must be among the top 10% of their class.
  • Candidates must hold a non-EU/EEA passport. Candidates should fill in the Scholarship Application Form.
  • Candidates must be newly enrolled at Tilburg University.

Selection process:
Selection will be based on the the academic results in the relevant undergraduate program. The quality and content of the Scholarship Application Form. The language test score.

How to apply: Application must be made on the downloadable application form. State in the application form that you graduated with an average result of at least 8 out of 10 in a relevant undergraduate program, by providing your calculated GPA and/or proof that you belong to the top 10% of your class.

Application deadline: 1 April 2014. Students starting their program in February 2015 are also eligible for the Tilburg University Scholarship for Academic Excellence, but they need to meet the deadline of 1 April 2014.

Economic and Social Development Scholarship 2014

The scholarship is offered to students registered on one-year Master’s degree programmes and is intended for students who will contribute to the economic or social development of their countries when they return on completion of their studies.

Subject areas: Anthropology, Development Studies/International Development (including the Institute of Development Studies), Economics, Education (including MA in Childhood and Youth Studies), Gender Studies, International Relations, Human Rights, and Migration Studies.

Level:  Postgraduate taught.

Value: £5,000 in the form of tuition fee reduction.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be Indian nationals. Awards will be made on the basis of academic merit. Students currently studying in the UK are not eligible to apply. Applicants should not previously have studied at degree level in the UK. Applicants should be classified to pay fees at the ‘overseas’ rate. Student will not be able to receive this scholarship in conjunction with any other scholarship from the university.

How to apply: Applications should be made on the prescribed form.

Application deadline: 28th March 2014

You are advised  to visit this website (blog) and other websites offering similar information.You may also visit the nearest British Council Office. They offer information on scholarship opportunities in UK universities. The British Council offices are located in larger Indian cities. Information is also available from their website.

Getting 100% funding through scholarships is rare. You have to do a lot of home work to find out resources that can fund your higher education. Part of the amount has to come from your own (or your family’s) savings. Part from scholarships, something can come from part time jobs while you study, a small portion may have to be borrowed from Endowments like Tata Scholarship Trust or financial organisation like banks.

Whatever sources you intend to tap, you should have very good educational track record to be eligible for funding.  Before deciding to borrow from banks think about the job prospects for a student who passes out from the chosen course. If the employment prospects are not bright repayment of loans may be difficult.
