Field of Study: Clinical training in Cancer Research, Cardiology, Gynecology, Medicine, Dentistry, Orthopedics, Neurology and ENT.

Level: Graduate/Postgraduate

Eligibility: Applicants must be Indian nationals. The candidates should not be more than 40 years of age as on 11.10.2013. Scholarships are offered to MBBS, BDS, MS, MD degree holders only who have qualified as MBBS and BDS between 1st October, 2004 and 30th September, 2009. The candidates must have completed tertiary education in English Medium. One should hold or able to produce the certificate of Bachelor’s Degree by October, 2014 in the subject field concerned securing 65% or above marks. Candidates should give one page academic justification for pursuing the course in U.K.

Candidates whose native language is not English will be required to provide evidence that they have sufficient competence in English to practice Medicine or Dentistry in the United Kingdom. Nominated candidates will be required to take the IELTS. An IELTS test will only be considered valid if taken after 1st October 2013 and before 6th March 2014. All international medical graduates, including those on Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships, who apply for registration with the GMC will be required to score 7.0 or above in every band of the academic IELTS test.

Applicants whose programme requires them to practice clinically, or to work in a laboratory department reporting on samples from patients, can be considered only if they are eligible for registration with the General Medical Council or the General Dental Council. Duration: Six months of clinical training

Value: Return airfare (economy class), approved tuition and examination fees, personal maintenance allowance at the rate of £917 per month (£1,134 per month for those studying at institutions in the London Metropolitan area).

Commonwealth  Fellowships – 2014

The Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Programme offers scholarships and fellowships to students of Commonwealth countries who can make a significant contribution to their home country after the completion of a higher education programme in the UK.

Commonwealth Fellowships for India is managed jointly by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU, UK), the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),  the Government of India and the British Council.

Fellowships are available in any academic subject including Medicine and Dentistry. Fellowships are primarily intended for younger established teachers to enhance their teaching and/or research experience. For Medicine and Dentistry the Fellowships are intended for the enhancement of clinical skills relevant to what they’re going to study at the institution of their choice.

Duration of Fellowships: Commonwealth Fellowships are for six months.

Value: Economy return fare, tuition fee, maintenance and other allowances.

Medicine and Dentistry:
For medically qualified applicants if their programmes require them to practice clinically, or to work in a laboratory department reporting on samples from patients, they can only be considered if they are eligible for registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or the General Dental Council.

Eligibility for Fellowships: The applicants must be academic staff members. They should get nominated by the executive head of the university they work full time at. This is followed by shortlisting of applications and personal interviews in New Delhi.

Application for these fellowships should be made at least one year before the course starts. The UGC sends circulars to all universities in July–August every year for nominations for the awards beginning the following academic year.

Selection procedure for Fellowships: The preliminary selection of candidates for Academic Staff Fellowships is carried out in India by University Grants Commission (UGC). The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) London does the final selection on the basis of the nominations sent by the UGC.

The interviews are normally held in November or December for the awards beginning September in the following year.

Candidates should    have been awarded doctorate no less than five and no more than ten years from the date of taking up the study. Should  have at least two-years experience as a staff member of a university or similar institution in the applicants’ home country. Candidates should not be aged more than 40 at the time of applying. Some scholarship programmes may require IELTS.

Selection procedure for scholarships: The preliminary selection is through a process of shortlisting of applications, followed by personal interviews in New Delhi. This is done by the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),  Government of India.

K C Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad

The K C Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad is an interest free loan scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to graduates interested in pursuing their post graduate studies overseas. The scholarship was started in 1956. Announcement of the scholarship is done in the month of January in leading newspapers throughout India.

Eligibility: Candidates are required to possess a First Class degree or equivalent diploma from a recognized university. Candidates must have secured admission or at least have applied for admission to a reputed university or institution abroad at the time of submission of the application form.

How to apply: The Application Form can be downloaded from their website. The Application Form can also be collected in person from their office at the end of January. Shortlisted students are called for the final interviews which are held in July. The Application Form must be printed on legal / full scape size paper and not A4 size paper.

australian national uniScholarships are offered to students of Degree Programs offered by the ANU College of Business and Economics

Field of study: The College offers internationally recognised graduate coursework degrees in Accounting, Actuarial studies and statistics; Business, management and marketing; Business information systems; Economics and Finance.

Value: The Scholarship provides sponsorship for half (50%) of the international student tuition fee for up to one year of a Graduate Diploma or Masters program offered by the College.

The Scholarship does not cover any application and deposit fee, the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) premium, fares to and from Australia, the payment of reading and study materials, living expenses, accommodation, services and amenities fee, or any other costs associated with studying.

Number of scholarships: Up to 10 per year.

Eligibility: Applicants muust be an International Students. Must have applied for a Graduate Diploma or Masters by coursework program with the ANU College of Business & Economics. The applicant must be a commencing student in a Graduate Diploma or Masters by coursework program within the ANU College of Business and Economics for the first time. Dependants of the staff of diplomatic or consular missions are also eligible.

One scholarship will be awarded to a student from Latin America, Europe, Asia, South East Asia and Eurasia while the remaining five scholarships will be open to applicants from all regions of the world.

Selection is on the basis of academic merit, program choice and country of citizenship. Consideration may also be given to any other factors which the Selection Committee considers to be appropriate from time to time and in line with the College’s strategic direction and priorities.

The Fulbright Program is one of the largest educational scholarship programs in the world and operates between the US and more than 155 countries. In India Fulbright programs are coordinated by The United States – India Educational Foundation (USIEF). More than 17,000 Fulbright fellowships and other grants have been awarded to Indians and Americans since the inception of the programme.

The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships are awarded to outstanding Indians to do a master’s degree program at selected U.S. colleges and universities in the areas of Arts and Culture Management, Heritage Conservation and Museum Studies, Environmental Science, Higher Education Administration, Public Health, Urban and Regional Planning, Women’s Studies and Gender Studies.

Eligibility: Applicants should have completed an equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a recognized Indian university with at least 55% marks. Applicants should possess a four-year bachelor’s degree or completed master’s degree. If the bachelor’s degree is of less than four years’ duration the candidate should have at least three years’ full-time (paid or voluntary) professional work experience relevant to their proposed field of study. The applicants should demonstrate experience in leadership and community service. The candidate should not have another degree from a U.S. university or be enrolled in a U.S. degree program. The applicants should be responsible Indian citizens who can contribute to promote understanding and friendship between the peoples of the United States of America and India. Candidates should have a high level of academic or professional achievement. Proficiency in the English language. The candidates may be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Applicants should give an undertaking to return to India on the completion of the fellowship.
